PHP 8.0 also like previous version which include performance improvement on certain type of function. However, it is recommended that you check with the developer requirements on PHP 8.0 support before you start applying PHP 8.0 into your application. While latest WordPress supporting PHP 8.0, but not all themes and plugins are fully compatible with PHP 8.0.
To enable PHP 8.0 all you need to do is log in to cPanel go to ‘Select PHP Version’. On the ‘Select PHP Version’ page you’ll select PHP 8.0 from the drop-down and set it as your current PHP version (Tutorial). At this moment in time, many extensions such as Ioncube are not available in PHP 8 but will become available once a stable version is available.
